The Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder (PTSD)-Syndrom:

The PTSD-Syndrom has come to mans mind more than other diseases in the past 25 Years and not only the vietnam war and its veterans had a great influence on the discovery and research.

More and more psychologists and other mental healers try to understand, how people, who suffer under this special disease, live their life and try to solve the problems within.

For understanding we must describe the personal feeling to something that is called a trauma or a traumatic eperience.

In 25 years of research, at least with a special task force in mental hospitals and in cooperation with the University of Bielefeld and Hannover in Northern Germany, we found similar perspectives to traumatic experiences in interviews of sufferers.

Soon after a traumatic experience (rape, accident, whittness of deadly or cruel violence etc.) the persons who are involved have a special "knowledge" which seperates them from their regular social environment (family, friends, work, partnership).

This "knowledge" is especially a knowledge of  ..... how something cruel looks like and how does it feel in reality.
While cruel things like violence and some crimes have an undefined and unspecified "horror" to people, who are not part of it and only get the knowledge of it out of the newspaper, the sufferer has a very exact picture of it and more important, has a very deep experience with it, which makes him to an "experienced person", with more knowledge of the traumatic experience.

The problem now is, that the sufferer feels lonesome with this experience while talking to a lot of people with no experience of this things and the deep pain that occurs while it happened and also after it happened, so there is no "sharing person".

The more lack of "sharing persons" occur, the more a traumatic experience becomes a hard pain with no friends in it.

That often seperates persons from their private environment and the people within, because getting a lot of mercy doesn´t give someone the self-confidence that makes a life and social contacts successfull and a healthy environment.

As result, self-confidence dissapears and often suicidal thinking takes more and more of the consiousness of sufferers.

Another important sight is, that the difference between sufferers and non sufferers is, that the sufferer lost the believe in ....that it can´t happen everytime........ the non sufferer doesn´t think about it, until it happens (the traumatic experience).

The sufferer went through it and knows, that it happened, that it could happen again and that it met him, not "the others"!

The non-sufferer doesn´t live with this thoughts, the non-sufferer is a virgin with this thought and doesn´t spend any time with thinking about it (with the exeption of regular fear of violence, crime...etc), the sufferer lives with this thoughts and every similar or like-it-experience let him stuck in this thoughts and reanimates the somatic and mental feelings of the experience.

Most of the people can´t imagine that and wonder, how the sufferers react on some things, or how much time they spend with destructive and mind-robbing thoughts, but that is it exactly, what happens, the PTSD-Syndrom  is a mind-robbing and thought-steeling consious and also unconsious happening which accumulates mind-power that is needed for life and happiness!

What happens if a veteran wakes up in bed with pictures of a war-experience in his mind, what makes a raped woman feel fearful in front of men, what is burning in the brain of a violent-abused child while it is whitness of violent-abuse again?

It´s knowledge of the crime burnt into the database of the mind with emotional and somatic components that are restimulated in every similar experience, consious or unconsious and let people behave with no declaration and without understanding of others, who doesn´t have the traumatic-experience, the special kind of "knowledge", which make sufferers to "specialists".

There are case-specific pictures of this desease, depending on circumstances and kind of experience, also on caring environment and support after the main-experience.

But the effect is allways the same, it robbs mind-power, sometimes more sometimes much, sometimes less and whith good support it will cost not so much, with no support it will lead to all psychologic and psychiatric diseases and noone is free from
the beginning and event of the traumatic-experience up to the end of life,....... the thing is, .........how sufferers cope with it.

And thats the other fact, it changes life to a direction one never thought of......some accept.......some don´t.........

Another sight is, not far from the description above, the big break in self-confidence and self-esteem.
Some of traumatic experiences are an attack on the body of a victim that suddenly happens against the will and without permission from the person, so it´s an abuse, the same is it with a whitness of violence or cruel things, who doesn´t want to see such things and is not prepared for such an experience.

The Charakter of traumtic experiences is often abusal and the abuse is giving the pain to victims, so the conclusion is that the victim suffers from broken self-esteem and self-confidence.

So a therapy would be something that gives this feelings back to the sufferer and in history some survivors of hard experiences try to become fameous through hard work or other things

At this point i will speak about some therapeutic directions seen in germany, which base on self-experience through success in artistic undertaking and building knowledge and medical competence.

Building competence in this cases and a good social support is a good way to help sufferers to cope with their experience.

There are also a lot of books from survivors, that show competence and knowledge about the PTSD-Syndrom.
